Stealth design startup, Canva, offers first beta access to Hackagong

Huge news to announce today!

Canva is confirmed as a gold sponsor for Hackagong 2013! Currently in stealth-mode and having recently raised $3 million in seed funding, they are a hot Sydney-based startup building an awesome online design platform that makes professional design accessible to everyone.

This weekend, Hackagong competitors will be some of the first in the world to have full beta access to the Canva design platform. We’ll also be running a competition where the team with the best designed promotional material (poster, flyer etc) using Canva will win $100 of Canva credit and two tickets to the exclusive Canva launch party!

I had a chance to sit down with the very awesome Zach Kitschke, Canva’s Chief Storyteller, a few weeks ago to get a tour of the Canva platform and was amazed at its speed and simplicity. Features include crazy-fast search and access to high-quality stock images, pre-defined templates for anything from business cards to Facebook cover photos, drag-drop and automatic image manipulation, and of course a super sexy interface.

Huge thanks to Canva for supporting Hackagong. Very exciting stuff, and I can’t wait to see what teams design over the weekend.

Want to see what’s behind the landing page? Grab a ticket and come to Hackagong this weekend (July 20-21, 2013 at the University of Wollongong uniCentre)…
